Yesterday was a MAD day.. i practically rushed from one place to another.. Went Church in the Morning with Les and after that, His aunties booked me to bake pineapple tarts with them.. Hahaa..Went his house for some home cooked food:):) His house looked like a Red Light District from the outside.. the Porch hanged alot of red lanterns and red banner.. Had a damn full lunch and set to work on the pineapple paste after makan-ing=D

The Pastry only took about 45 min.. this time i made a super big portion so very hard to manage the texture sia and somemore with the young cousins ard.. It was CHAOS!!! After making the dough.. i tot it's time to start rolling in the Pineapple paste.. but the Aunties Declared it's Tea-Break Time!!! WaLau.. i was so damn bloated frm lunch liaooo.. Initially i dun wanna eat cos i was feeling verrrrry Constipated also..(AGAIN!!) haha.. but i cant resist the Temptation!!! I tried the dumplings... it was sooooo SHIOOokk~!~!~ I'm going to get Les to buy for me every week if PoSsIbLe~~~ hahaha!!!!!
And So.. after Tea-Break.. We FINALLY emark on our baking session...

This time it's SUPER DUPER efficient.. we only take bout 2.5 hours!!! to finish all the paste!!! as compared to 7 hours the previous time ( but i was the only one making the previous time la.. but Half the Serving)..

Verdict: The pastry is Just Nice!! YaY *Bows* but i bought the wrong paste this time round=< !!! It's too sticky and it tasted quite flat.. But it's not MY FAULT anyway.. so long as the pastry taste nice!! haha.. Who says expensive stuff are always good???? I bought the pre-made paste at a specialised bakery shop at a higher $$$ and it ended up tt the previous packet i bought at Shop'n'Save tastes NICER~~~

AND SO~~~ i "KOP" the remaining of the dough back cos i got somemore paster left from previous round at home.. haha.. den can bake nicer tarts FOR PERSONAL CONSUMPTION ONLY~~~
Before I left his house for dinner.. i go play play with his house's Koi.. MY GAWD~~ They have grown sooooo HUGE!!! and i touched their Scales.. Euwwww.. I still dun like fish!!!

After i reached home.. I set down to bake the TARTS AGAIN!!! STRAIGHT after dinner...Baked until i nearly forgot tt I've an Online Meeting and tons of NOTES to print.. By the time I finished printing the notes.. It's like almost 12 a.m. liao and cabbed down to Les Hall for supper.. Wa liew.. I nearly died from exhaustion last night...(Cos' i din sleep the night b4~)
Now I'm soooo sian of baking le!!! (GUESS WHAT? My mum just called me telling me that his colleagues wanna buy the tarts from me after trying them out... so she asked me to go buy the ingredients tonight.......................................) I dun tink i have the time to do my tutorials before the New Year is over..

DONE with my NEW Year Shopping!!
YaY!! I'm finally done with my New Year Shopping!! 2 SETS of clothes, 3 Pairs of Shoes and a NEW Hairstyle.. I'm all READY! Hmmm...WAIT! but NO new bags YET.. shall walk ard see see look look tml.. [Since I'm accompanying Les to shop for his].. Hiz.. At this rate I'll go BANKRUPT!! It's always like this.. Even when I'm supposed to accompany ppl to shop.. I'll always end up being the ONE BUYING!!! In Hokkien, It's called "Pai Bak".. Direct Translation: Naughty Eye (Which Means See everything also want, cannot resist TEMPTATION) HaHaAAaa.. Jia LAT.. I can predict me coming back with more clothes tml... Maybe I should watch a show tml den sit in the Cinema den no chance to shop.. or maybe i shld ask Les to shop for his New Year clothes at MUSTAFA instead.. haha!!!! ANYWAY..I din manage to catch 'Memoirs Of The Geisha' today!!! BAH!!! All tickets sold out at most CINEMAS!!! guess have to wait till a weekday..
On a separate NOTE.. I've said something too harsh to SOMEONE today.. was kinda in a bad mood this afternoon so shoot off my mouth without thinking.. and I cant take back my WORDS NOW... and I'm feeling soo guilty... I'M SORRY!

I'm soo SOO SO looking forward to Chinese New Year now...Haha.. actually I'm just excited about the Steamboat dinner/Pineapple Tarts/Bak Kwa only laaaa.... and of cos... $$$RED PACKETS$$$ I'm quite lazee when it comes to Travleeing tho~ actually I'm more excited bout New Year's Eve instead of the 15 days of New Year.. Dunno Y leh.. but the countdown just makes me very excited.. Normally on the Eve, I'll Dress Up and go my GrandMa House for Reunion Dinner.. It'll just be my family plus my uncle and her wife and my Grandparents so it's a small gathering BUT i LOVE my Ah Ma's Cooking.. Every Year I'll will be the last the leave the Dining Table.. Haha!! cos the Steamboat Soup Tastes the Best @ the last Part!!! I'll just keep throwing prawns and whateva shit in so the soup will taste HEAVENLY~~ I'm a Smart Eater.. cos' i will touch very little rice and attack the Good Stuff!! Like Abalone/Tiger Prawns/Baby Clams/Baby Asparagus etc.. One thing i cannot stand is SEA CUCUMBER!! YUCKS! Woo Hoo~~ I'm so so Looking forward CAN! (I tink it's abit early to DROOL now) Den after Dinner, I'll go to my MUM's friend house where alot of ppl will welcome the start of a New Year.. and my HONGBAO collection Starts!! Hopefully this year.. after the countdown.. I'll have the energy to go Chinatown to get the Festive Mood and Grab Last Minute CHEAP New Year Goodies.. Heard tt when the clock strikes 12.. those vendors will start slashing their prices!!! Anyway i'm going there next Wed with Zhi Zhi:):) hohoho~~~ BUT I'm yet done with my New Year Clothes shopping tho~~ shall shop this Friday!! and watch Memoirs Of the Geisha:):) I've been waiting for the release of that Movie..
Oh.. another DO-YOU-KNOW fact, DO YOU KNOW? that this year is a LEAP year.. so there will be 2 "Seventh Lunar MONTH"s?? So Seven Month will stretch from August till bout October.. COOL!!! Hmm... BUT but hor.. why not 2 "Eighth Lunar Month"s instead den we can have dumplings throughout the 2 Whole Months.. Seventh Month means that I must be back home by 10 p.m. for that 2 whole months cos' of my superstitious mum!! haha.. I'm starting to talk nonsense..
Hmm anyway.. I'm in a pretty Good Mood these 2 days.. Dunno Y also.. Met up with my Gramps Yesterday.. FINALLY!!! Haven seen them for soo Long.. As Usual~ They kept asking me to Eat more =( I kept saying "Orh Orh" haha.. but I was really happy cos' i kinda missed dem.. Bumped into alot of Friends in Uni these days too.. Oh~ Talking bout School.. School's Great so FAR!! No tutorials yet.. and my timetable for this semester is quite good too!!! I've got 2 FREE DAYS!!! i.e. Wednesday (Actually there's a lecture on this day but it'll be webcasted so I'm not going;p) and Friday.. So I only need to go school 3 days out of 7 days a WEEK!! and i dun have any days tt starts super early too.. which is great cos i'll just probaby skip those if there's any:):)
Tml is supposed to be my "FREE DAY" but got make-up lecture from 5 pm to 7 pm.. STUPID TIMING.. but it's alright.. YING JIN is in a Happy Mood *SHALALALAaaaa*

AaNnnd the hairdresser warned me about the effects of not using conditioner again.. OKOK!! I'll buy tml...

dunno WHAT went over me today.. was feeling quite lousy yesterday after attending the ANU pre-departure briefing at Orchard Hotel Yesterday.. The briefing was very convincing and i can almost picture myself in Canberra.. but after the briefing.. I became more certain to forgo the opportunity RATHER than being convinced by it.. It's not cos' of the Uni or anything.. but mainly cos of $$$... hiz.. guess I must be REALISTIC laaa.. cos i realized that on top of the accomodation expenses, I have to tink bout food, stationery, transport, Winter clothing (it's WINTER TIME during JULY~OCTOBER) and on top of that i need to get myself a LapTop (I cant possibly move my desktop over right?!) and all these extra expenses for just 3.5 months there!!! I really dun wanna buy a brand new laptop just for a 3 month stay.. hiz.. my mum was kinda disproving too (As Expected)... So i was verrrryyyy sian when i reach home last night.. I cant really describe the disappointment and i dun wanna harp on it le.. i din really sleep well last night too..
When i woke up this morning.. I know i must do something.. anything just to make myself feel better=D SO I've decided to PERM my hair!!! I called up many salons to check out the rates and currently during this festive period, SuperCuts provides the BEST RATES:) s$150 for medium-length hair.. I wanted to try MONSOON but it's a FREAKING 300 BUCKS!!!! wah!!! so eXXXXX!!!I'm not going to spend that type of Yuan Wang Qian!! Actually.. i wanted to perm my hair quite sometime ago.. but alot of ppl says tt Permed hair will add years to ya look.. i still remember ShuHui saying"Pls lor.. you dun have a youngish face.. it won't suit you one.. dun waste ya money"(Stupid Girl.. trying to hint i look mature ah?!) so i decided to go with my heart and do what i feel like INSTEAD=D
I reached the Salon @ 4.30p.m and leave the place only 3.5 hours later!!! What an EXPERIENCE SIA!!! My Bladder almost burst from the waiting.. and my gawd!!! the chemicals they used STINKED like dunno what.. The vapour irritates the eye and i cant breathe properly too.. damn unbearable!! haha.. MIDWAY thru the session, I kept holding on to my nose cos i cant stand the STENCH.. and the hairstylist was like " FIRST TIME?" and i nodded with my hand still holding my nose.. and i washed my HAIR LIKE 7 TIMES TODAY!!!!! WAH liew.. now my head feels sore from all the pulling and scrubbing.. and the stupid AMMONIA stench wont go away........
I was REALLLY bored from waiting.. hahaa.. Red Mushroom head~
3.5 Hours later:):):) Quite satisfied with my NEW LOOK.. haha.. @ LEAST i dun tink i look Auntie!! but i feel that the curls abit ''LIMP" so i'm going back for a touch-up (RE-PERM again) totally free-of-charge!! WooHoo~~ The hairstylist Rox!! but tt means to say I've to endure the chemical Turmoil all over again... and it's going to take another 3 hours!!! Hiz.. The Price of VANITY~

soo.. Today is the deadline of the acceptance of the offer.. (I managed to call the co'ordinator and bluff her saying that my parents not in town so need more time to consider=p) I'm attending a Singapore Pre-departure briefing at Orchard Hotel organized vy the ANU co'ordinator.. It's at 4.30 p.m till 6.. and I've lessons today from 1 to 6.. guess I've to skip the later lesson for today again!!! haha!!! In fact School started last Saturday for me cos they bring forward the lessons that are conducted on Hari Raya Haji.. BUT GUESS WAT?! I have yet to attend a SINGLE Lecture... hahahah... BLAME THE WEATHER!!!!!! but I must drag myself to school today cos it's a tutorial today and attendance will be taken.. HIZ... It has been raining and RAINING AND raining NON-STOP since last Saturday... what's happening?! i remembered last year's rainy season wasn't this BAD.. It literally din stop raining for the past 5 days!!! The weather just alternates between Drizzle, Rain, Downpour and Heavy Downpour.. and it's HEAVY DOWNPOUR now.. argh... i dun wanna get drenched...
Anyway.. Yup.. Back to SEP again.. Thanks for all the advice Peeps! I've discussed with quite a no. of ppl bout this liao.. but i still hope to get the approval from my mum.. after discussing and persuading her for the past few days... i REALISED my MUM is a CLASSIC!!! hahha.. she tried all ways of Dissuading me.. LITERALLY ALL WAYS>> SOoo Yesterday, she was telling me that this coming Chinese Zodiac Year is the Year of the DOG.. and she heard from frens and geomacists that this coming "Dog Year" will be an inauspicious one.. she was telling me over the phone that.. since there r soo many spieces of DOGS. a bad year may indicate the YEAR of the WEREWOLF (I tot that's a wolf?!) and werewolves are canivorous and stuff lidat.. HAhaaaa.. I burst out laughing and replied "Oh issssit??" Realising that i'm not taking her seriously, she started citing examples such as those Bali Bombings and stuff lidat to tell me that Islamic ppl are very against Australians and Australia will be targeted next.. MOST PROBABLY in the Year of the WEREWOLF... haha.. i can sense my mum is getting DESPERATE..
HIAZ... I'm dragging her along to the seminar this evening.. and i've thought about it.. NO DOUBT this is a very good opportunity for me.. but if my mum is still very strongly against the idea of me leaving.. I guessed i still have to OBLIGE cos she's my mother after all.. I dun wish to quarrel with her over this thing.. (she said it's her responsibility to look after me.. the responsibilty will only end after i get married..) WHAT THE?! den i will be tied down by my own family after tat isn't it?! den when will i EVER GET MY FREEDOM!! OMG!!! me and my OVER-protective MUM...

I've just received an email informing me that I've been selected for the EXCHANGE PROGRAM:):):) I'll be enrolling in AUSTRALIA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY if i accept the offer.. The deadline will be this coming Tuesday (SOOO FAST?!) but PROBLEM is.. My mum is going back on her words............. We had a tiff yesterday over this issue.. She cited alot of reasons forbidding me to go.. Den she'll always uses the last resort i.e. Financial strain to make me feel guilty.. She has been harping on this issue ever since she knew about the approval.. It's not that i din let her noe bout my decision to go for SEP like last min.. I've let her know about this idea even before i enter NUS cos she forbidded me to study overseas for my tertiary education.. and when i was signing up for SEP, she relented after much persuasion and was helping me to look for accomodation and stuff lidat..(but deep inside her.. she tot that such application won't get approved tt easily so she was just accommodating me!) Initially i tot I've gotten her support finally den i went to do research bout the program and spent days typing my proposal to apply for it.. Den when i told her about the approval yesterday.. her face expression changed.. she started saying how selfish i'm and i dun seem to understand her feelings anymore and stuff lidat.. EVEN when i go out shopping she'll call me and try to dissuade me.. ARGHHHH... Pls la.. i'll only be 3.5 months away.. it's not 3.5 YEARS!
Anyway.. my mother aside, Me myself is quite uncertain bout the SEP too.. not cos i'm getting cold feet bout it (Well.. i do admit that i belong to the more dependent type of girl~) but it's cos of the location.. The uni is situated in Canberra, Australia's capital (voted the most bOooring place in Australia..) haha~~ i dun wanna be stuck in a boring place with no friends and stuff.. and this will be the first time i'll be abroad ALL alone and i've to learn to settle my problems all ALONE there i.e. Accommodation, Food, Books, Transport and all that stuff.. My mum cant accompany me there also cos she got a phobia of flights (i noe it sounds stupid..) and she dun wanna spend the extra money on air tickets too.. yup.. so of cos' i'll be a lil worried and scared la.. I cant just run back to home as and when i feel upset or lonely cos it'll be a 4 hour flight away.. So i called the 'well travelled' Clara yesterday to discuss about it.. She told me the place is really quite boring but i should go for it cos it's Once-In-A-Lifetime experience and it'll reflect well in my Certificate.. On top of that she said that Australia National University is the top university in the whole of Australia and admission is tough.. so she said that i'm VERY lucky to get enrolled in that school cos it's very prestigious.. and somemore the school only accepts like 3 or 4 students from NUS only.. and she said that there's always a FIRST time for everyone.. No doubt that u'll feel lost for the first week but after u make friends, things will gradually improve... I've been wanting to try an independent living for a short while since a LONG long time ago.. it's not tt i dun love my HOME.. I love and cant bear to leave my family, my country, my friends and of cos LES.. but i noe after i forgo this opportunity, i'll not get such a chance again.. I'll just graduate and work in this country.. cos Graduation will mark the end of my education life.. i dun tink i'll pursue any Honors/Masters degree.. so this will really be the last chance for me.. I dunno la.. I REALLY DON'T KNOW.. i really need advice right now tho the FINAL decision lies with me.. I emailed the co'ordinator for a later deadline so that i've more time to tink bout it.. So for those who reads my blog, pls tag an advice k? cos' I'm really in a dilemma

I've been baking pineapple tarts for the past 2 days:):):) Was shopping with my mum on Friday @ Suntec when i suddenly feel like baking.. Since CNY coming~~~ so I wanna attempt my Pineapple Tarts again! and i dun wanna wait till the next day cos i too gan chiong.. hehe.. I reached home ard 10 pm den went down to the nearest supermarket to get the ingredients.. HENG!! SHOP'n'SAVE opened till 12 midnight=> Hiz......... guess i was too tired and hungry by the time i came home.. so i kindna rushed thru' the process.. and e first attempt not very successful leh.. in the end I've to finish the WHOLE batch for my supper.. haha!!! i nearly died.. soooo heaty! and the moment i woke up the next morning.. I start to bake again:):):) haha.. THIS TIME ROUND.. I'm super paitient!!! I baked all the way from 10 plus in the morning till 4 plus in the afternoon!!! and it's quite successful this time round.. tho' i got feedback from Clara and ShuHui that i should add more pineapple.. haha.. tink i too 'kiam siap' liao..
Anyway.. I met the girls for some window shopping yesterday cos i Haben got my pay (TOO BROKE!).. We met in taka cos i wanna pass my colleagues the tarts I baked=D LUCKY i went cos' my Pay is HERE!!!! YAY!!! and i realised i got 300 bucks extra:) Another Reason for me to splurge a lil' (JUST A LITTLE~) Yup.. so since i haben cash in the cheque.. i can only window-shop still.. but i still cant resist the temptation when i saw a polka-dotted purple skirt!!! It's sooo damn NICE!!! my gawd.. hehe.. i bought it in the end:):):) HAPPY~!~!~ OH and we went FOOD REPUBLIC @ Wistma yesterday.. The place looks damn cool! and there's alot of variety there as well!!!! RECCOMMENDED PLACE to go if u r on a budget and looking for GOOD food=D

I LOVE those type of tarts that enclose the pineapple filling instead of having the whole chunk of paste on top of the pastry.. so i rolled the paste into the pastry in an elongated shape so that i can bite a lil' @ a time:):)

The last box and the circular box beside the stack of boxes are meant for ME! and my family!!! SUPER ALOT LA!!!! got the big box at the bottom got 3 layers (Each layer got like 20++ pieces).. BUT!!!!!!!!!! when i came home yesterday night... the moment i opened the door.. i saw emptied boxes... I was super SUPER disappointed!!! cos i haben try the second batch yet... I haben let LES try also... It was meant for our supper... My mum told me that they tasted so nice (not flaunting here) that my grandma and aunt came and together they finished the two boxes.. (Around 90 pieces!!! all of them!!!) and what pissed me off is that.. my aunt tapau one box back cos they cannot finish den she brought back for the next day consumption WITHOUT leaving a single piece for me... WHAT COURTESY! they really too "bu ke qi" le... Hiz.. it's not that I'm stingy.. REALLY!! I'm more than willing to bake for them if they like my tarts (it's a compliment) but @ least have the courtesy to leave some behind right?! but nvm la.. what's done cannot be UNDONE.. i shall bake again this Sunday bah..

Went JB yesterday even though i was on the verge on developing a fever cos the temptation to SHOP is simply too oVeRbEaRiNg.. haha.. Les was saying.. there should be an IHG event for Shopping and girls will win hands down *Nods Head*
Woke up quite early so that we can lunch in JB.. We are supposed to take Bus Service 170 at Kranji stn.. but some people forgot to withdraw $$ the day B4 so we have to U-Turn back to Woodlands to search for an ATM instead............In the end, by the time we reached JB it's already 2.30p.m.~ So we had a quick lunch and SHOPPING BEGINS!!!! We went City Square and since it's sooo damn near to S'pore.. the Pricing is higher as compared to other ULU shopping centres.. but the fashion there more upmarket mah!!! so no choice.. I tot we can finish shopping in 2 hrs time den can change venue to Holiday Inn to search for some Cheap Buys.. but we spent the entire afternoon in that place and we din even cover all the shops la! HAHA!! Although the stuff there are relatively more EX.. but i still find it CHEAP! as compared to Singapore leh.. somemore can BARGAIN (In Spore Shopping Centres how can bargain?!) I exchanged 80 Sing Bucks and got myself 1 top, 2 bottoms, 1 handbag, 1 pair of lOvElY Clogs, 1 pair of slippers for my sis, 2 boxes of Old Wife's Biscuits and on top of that my LUNCH and Zhi Char Dinner!!! den still got 20++ Ringgit Left Over!! Wah!!! really very shiok sia~~~ i wanna go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA!! I tink the only thing that is more expensive than Singapore is their TOILETS!!!!!! 50 sen per ENTRY! (in the end i must 'accumulate' until cannot stand it den go look for a toilet~ hahaha) and i realised that all toilets in Malaysia dun have Toilet Paper!! soo kiam siap!

After SHOPPING.. we took cab down to some market place for dinner.. We could have shopped longer but my ever-paranoid MUM wants me to be back in Singapore by 9 plus=( By the time we start our dinner, it was nearly 8 liao.. but HENG AH!!! yesterday totally no traffic @ all.. so In and Out of JB super efficient! anyway.. while we were waiting for our Food to come, I was looking at the tanks of to-be-slaughtered Fishes/Frogs/Prawns... and i Found this:
an OVERTURNED DEAD frog! In fact this is the first thing i NOTICED... sooo poor thing (i still LOVE eating FROG LEGS.. haha) But luckily we din order Frogs if not I'll leave it untouched...

Dinner WAS SHIOK!!! I nv touch Stingray for soo LOONnnG~~ I like the Sambal Chilli!!! and in total, the bill was only like 39 Ringgit!!! (approx. S$17) It's damn cheap!!! I wanna go JB again.. hmm.. actually i wanna go KL also.. cos there are alot of SHOPPING CENTRES there and got NIGHT MARKETS also!!! ARGH~~ I dun want Sch to re-open... NOOooooooo..............

hohoho... i FINALLY quited my JOB!!! enjoying 1 whole week to myself!!! finally free from everything! BUT.. i FELL SICK!!!!!!! WAT the???!!! So.. My Granddad cycled to my house in the morning and bought me Porridge and 3-Day supply of frozen meat mixture for my night suppers:):) He brought along newspapers to keep me occupied too.. SOO SWEET!!! i love the meat mixture my Ah Ma made!! Damn a lot of ingredients!! It comprises of Pork, Fish Meat, Prawn, Chives, Spring Onions, Chillies, Salt, Sugar, Pepper, Sesame Oil, Light Soy Sauce...... It's so damn SHIOK!!! I LIKE:):)

anyway.. yup.. so I've quited my job.. but kinda miss working also.. cos my colleagues are super nice to me!!! Esp. the aunty there.. haha!! she abit bias twds me..(i noe i very BUAY HIAO BAI for saying this...) but once i was really late for work like for 30++ Min.. den when i reached she said" aiyo.. u BZ issit?? next time dun need rush.. take ya time.. juz inform me will do" Den previously got another part-timer late den she kana scolding...haha!! and she's not re-hired again..cos she said she dun like late-comers.. Heng Ah!! i not fired.. Also.. when everytime there's rubbish to be thrown.. I'm always excused.. cos she said i'm too small-sized.. den she'll order other part-timers to throw and load goods.. SOOOO basically i'm just a mannequin there den helped to wrap presents and serve customers.. haha!! easy $$$
When i left work to study last holiday (July '05), She bought me a Fila bag.. den when i quited yesterday.. she passed me a present again.. A BELATED X'Mas present for me:):):) I tot it's a purse or sth.. but when i opened the little box.. it's was a Metal Casio Watch!!!
VIOLAAAA!!! Oh Mi God!!! such good Employer!!! *Touched* and she also told the manager to increase my PAY this month cos Sch is starting liao... WooHoo~ She Rocks MAN!!!
Hmm.. Tink I shld give her sth in return of her kindness.. shldn't i?? Since Chinese New Year is coming.. i decided to bake some Pineapple Tarts and give her some.. It's "Xin Yi" :):) and of course if it's successful.. I'll distribute ard:):):) and flaunt my baking skills.. haha!! but i've yet found my recipe.. so it's still empty talk for the time being =P
